This is the first of two case studies focused on feature island open fires created by Camelot Real Fires for themed pubs and restaurants.
In both instances we worked with the proprietor, contractor, architect and interior branding consultants to the requirements of the individual project.
Both examples involved a major feature fire for a central place within a branded eating venue as part of a significant investment prior to a re-launch of the venue.
The first project featured a rectangular open fire on a brick plinth which needed to sit between a structured steel arrangement to support the roof once the structural walls were removed.
The Particular Challenges:
The fire needed to have a flue up through the ceiling that avoided various exposed, heavy steel beams that were structurally part of the building. It also needed to have fireguards on 4 sides.
The Brief:
To create an open fire that evoked imagery of a working forge, worked quietly for dinners, and was safe for customers and staff.
Our Solution:
A fire pit tray built into a brick plinth including integrated pull up fire guards on all 4 sides of the fire pit so that the fireguards were always available to use.
We designed and created a heavy gauge rectangular canopy finished in accelerated rusted finish to create a deep antique leather appearance – you can see these different components below.
This canopy was attached to a large exposed flue going up through the pitched roof, with a high capacity chimney fan on top of this.
Camelot Real Fires:
And here is the finished open fire:
Outcomes:
The fire has now had 2 months’ use, it works well, the fireguards are a success and it’s a spectacular feature of the venue.
The proprietor is already planning another project which may well feature another centrepiece like this.
