Cottage Copper

Design brief

Private clients in a  restored cottage with small fire place in dinning room. Design a dog grate fire to function correctly when installed with original chimney. Fire to compliment fireplace, but provide controlled heating when dinning room in use.

Camelot design proposal

Camelot design proposal featuring a hand made Camelot Thermovent fire and hand beaten copper canopy with rolled edge. Spit dogs featuring hand forged rolled steel scrolls on a straight grate front. Inner steel flue gather manages smoke away from the fire and into the chimney. The warmth of the copper compliments the red brick colour especially when the fire is lit. Width of the grate designed in proportion to the whole fireplace, hence no skirt on the canopy, for good visual balance. Height of dogs and canopy also set in proportion to the size of opening.
