Today’s blog is a real life story all about our solutions at Camelot Real Fires for renovating open fires which aren’t performing, and transforming them into elegant and efficient wood-burning fires.
The Scenario
We were contacted in 2015 by a specialist building contractor renovating a beautiful property in the Cotswolds area. The whole project had been done to the highest standards and was nearing completion. The house is a retreat for a family living in a big city, so it’s a special place for them to relax and unwind. However there was a problem with the fires in the property.
The Problem
The property had 3 small sized fireplaces refurbished with Cotswold stone and fitted chimney flues. However none of them worked – they all smoked! Not only was this very unpleasant for the family, it was holding up completion of the renovation.
The contractor was looking for a solution to this problem, but he also wanted an outcome for his client that would add real value to the renovation. In other words that the fires looked amazing.
The Proposed Solution
Camelot Real Fires undertook a design survey visit in the winter of 2015. The challenge was to create a canopy that was sized corrected for the flues that had already been installed for each chimney, but also to meet the exceptional standards of the renovation.
We knew the fires need to look elegant as well as perform. Our solutions was to propose a trio of hand-beaten copper canopies.
This proposal was accepted and Camelot Real Fires made the fires and then installed them over 3 days.
The Outcome
The customer was thrilled with the fires which not only resolved the issue of the smoke but exceeded her expectations regarding the look, design and efficiency of all three fires.
