THERMOVENT: TRADITIONAL OPEN FIREPLACE IDEAS FOR YOUR FIREPLACE RESTORATION

Preserving the open fireplace tradition.

As a result of recent UK emission regulations for solid fuel appliances production of Thermovent open fires is being phased out. We do have limited stocks of components which we are able to complete for clients and install for use. Once this supply of stock is exhausted Thermovent will unfortunately no longer be available. We would like to emphasise that Thermovents which are already installed or are purchased from our remaining supplies are not affected by these new regulations. So, if you are interested in a Thermovent open fire please call us on 01905 820181 or use the contact form here to get in touch.

As the UK’s leading wood burning open fire specialist, Camelot will continue to offer customers across the UK and abroad traditional open fires using our unique Twin Skin canopy design and traditional fire grates and fire baskets as these are outside the new regulations and perform to the same high Camelot standards.

The Thermovent is an incredibly effective and efficient woodburning open fire. Our own unique design, it combines 50 years knowledge of open fire design with traditional materials and skills plus the latest in laser cutting technology to create a traditional open fire with high performance built-in. It’s also designed for ease of installation by any competent person.

Handmade canopies plus hand forged or cast dog irons are wrapped around your Thermovent as a suite to create the look of your chosen period. If you want an open fire why compromise with a wood burner when you can have the real thing – made to order just for you!

WHAT OUR CUSTOMERS SAY

Love it!
Another customer said this about one of our fires:
“We’ve given the fire a good test run and it works really well. It certainly throws out some heat. The fire is amazing…we love it and it does everything we wanted it to do.”

WHY IS IT THERMOVENT IS SO EFFECTIVE AND EFFICIENT AS AN OPEN FIRE?

A multi-faceted approach to open fire design that you can feel but not see.

Twenty five years ago when the founder of Camelot Real Fires, Trevor Shaw, designed the first generation Thermovent he knew he would need to employ many different approaches to achieve his goal.

Getting the most from each log by keeping the heat in the fire itself as long as possible was one key element, then finding a way to pass that heat to the air around the fire and then get it moving around the room was the second. Finally the ability to control the fire, and close off the flue when not in use was the third.

When Paul, Trevor’s son, re-designed Thermovent to achieve CE mark status these same principles remained but changes such as a 140% increase in the surface area within the heat exchanges gave a significant lift in effective performance. See more on how we achieve Thermovent performance here.

The other key focus of Thermovent design is ease of use for you, the owner, and discretion. You don’t want to be aware of the features that are delivering the increase in performance – it’s an open fire that should look beautiful and in keeping with your fireplace aspirations.
